MAKE YOUR VOICE BE HEARD at the GUNS SAVE LIVES EVENT

Event February 11, 2020

Utah Gun Exchange is proud to sponsor and promote the 1st ever GUNS SAVE LIVES UTAH event. Please read below for more information.

***Please note that this page will be updated throughout the legislative session. ***

HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN DO TO TAKE ACTION:

  1. Contact your State Representative and Senator (See Action Item 1 Below).
  2. Attend the GUNS SAVES LIVES UTAH event (See Action Item 2 Below).

We want to thank each and every person that came out to the Rally at the State Capitol on Saturday Feb. 8th 2020!   We had an amazing turn out & tons of volunteers, and we cannot thank you enough.   We will be posting some powerful pictures that have been sent in.  It really was a great day.

That being said, NOW is the time to take further action!  We have our Legislator’s attention, let’s remind them they can be voted out if they do not listen to their constituents.

ACTION ITEM 1

Beginning today, we are asking each and every one of you to take a few minutes to call/text AND email/mail letters to your Representatives letting them know that if they do ANYTHING to infringe on your Second Amendment Rights, that they will NOT have your vote in the future.  Tell them that you oppose:

  • Red Flag Laws
  • Universal Background Checks
  • Elimination of Private Transfers
  • Anything that would further infringe on your Second Amendment Rights

Here is how you can EASILY find your Representatives and their CONTACT INFO to send them these messages:

  1. Go to https://le.utah.gov/GIS/findDistrict.jsp
  2. Enter your street address & zip code
  3. Click on the Representative and Senator’s Names that are displayed
  4. A page will be pulled up with their Mailing Address, Phone Number and Email Address
  5. Email, text, call and write letters to them as often as you can

We cannot let Utah become the next Virginia!   We cannot be apathetic!   Make your voice be heard NOW!

ACTION ITEM 2

Come to the State Capitol

WHEN:

Thursday, February 20th 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

WHERE:

Utah State Capitol – Hall of the Governors Room below the Capitol Rotunda (this is on the first floor).

WHAT:

We will be meeting and letting our Representatives and Senators know, in person, how we will be voting when it comes to Gun Legislation being presented in Utah.  There will be an official agenda and briefing with the attendees before we do a parade inside the Capitol.  We will take pictures together on the inside stairs in front of the chamber doors of the House of Representatives.  We will also work to meet with our Representatives and Senators while there.

WHAT TO BRING:

Please bring yourself and smile; no signs, flags, etc.
Concealed Carry is requested if a person chooses to carry.  This is a different type of event than what is usually done.  Future events may involve plans for open carry, but not this one.

DRESS CODE:

This event will have a dress code and we ask that you come dressed in CLEAN CASUAL or BUSINESS CASUAL fashion. Uniform blue and white GUNS SAVE LIVES tee shirts and stickers will be provided  to the  attendees  to wear and show our strength, unity and support of the 2nd Amendment
WHAT TO LEAVE BEHIND:
Signs, Flags and other symbols normally seen at a Pro 2A Freedom Rally.

We created a list of Volunteer contact information from the Rally on Feb. 8th for those who want to attend the next event themed GUNS SAVE LIVES.  If you would like to volunteer to attend the GUNS SAVE LIVES event or register for future events and did not sign our volunteer list at the Rally, you can email us at [email protected] and let us know that you want to be on that list. We will be sending out regular updates for future events to everyone on that list.

Info On The Proposed Legislation From our Friends at the NRA 02/04/2020

“The Utah Legislature began its 2020 legislative session last Monday, and anti-gun lawmakers are already introducing numerous gun control bills.  It is important that gun owners and sportsmen across Utah stay actively involved in these issues throughout 2020.

Multiple gun control measures have already been introduced and your legislators need to hear from you.

House Bill 109 bans most firearm sales and transfers between private individuals without first paying fees and obtaining government permission.  Firearm sales between friends or neighbors would not be exempted.  This proposal would have no impact on crime and is completely unenforceable.

House Bill 115 defines “firearm custodian” and makes them liable for the illegal actions of others.  This measure could make law-abiding gun owners liable if their firearms were stolen and then used in a crime, shifting the responsibility from criminals to law-abiding individuals.

House Bill 136 creates a blanket requirement that all firearms be locked and stored in a manner where an unauthorized or prohibited person would be unable to access them.  Gun safety and storage is a matter of personal responsibility and every person’s situation is different.  It is unreasonable for the law to impose a one-size-fits-all solution.  In short, this measure invades people’s homes and forces them to render their firearms useless for self-defense or become criminals.

House Bill 229 is an extreme “red flag” gun confiscation measure that authorizes the seizure of firearms and ammunition from individuals without sufficient due process.  Anti-gun lawmakers have introduced this measure to damage the Second Amendment rights of Utahans.  Bills similar to this one have been introduced in a number of other states, wholly supported by gun control organizations and the lawmakers they have invested in.

Constitutional rights should only be restricted with sufficient due process of law.  The Right to Keep and Bear Arms should not be treated as a second-class right and should only be restricted when due process protections are in place.

It is more important than ever for Utah NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters to contact their lawmakers in opposition to this gun control agenda.  The 2020 Session is short and bills will move very quickly.”

***** UPDATE ON JULY 14 EVENT******UGE PRESS RELEASE*****

Event July 11, 2018

We wanted to let  you know that the March For Our Lives Event has been canceled again.   We are doing our best to keep you informed and up to date as these changes occur.

UGE Co-Owner, Sam Robinson, has just put out the Press Release below.   Please read and please share this with our community!    We need to get this information out.  Thank you for your support! Please share.

PRESS RELEASE

July 11, 2018 for Immediate Release

With MegaPlex Cancellation, Utah Gun Exchange welcomes March For Our Lives / Road to Change, to Utah and to use its facilities

UtahGunExchange.com is concerned to hear that March For Our Lives SLC has had to cancel its event due to the loss of their venue.  We respect the rights of private property owners, the Larry H. Miller Group, and MegaPlex Theatres to determine how their property is utilized.  We also recognize the First Amendment rights that allow us to engage each other in civil dialogue.

We reaffirm our invitation to the March For Our Lives team to Utah.  We have a facility that can accommodate the March For Our Lives event, and it’s ready to go.  As it has been claimed that there are threats from “outside groups” of “escalation” – escalation which we do not condone – we are happy to add value to our original offer and pay for additional security to ensure safe and peaceful dialogue at our location.  We want safe students.  We want safe schools.  We support everyone’s Constitutional right to peaceably assemble and we will do everything we can to ensure that March For Our Lives can assemble safely.

Furthermore – we have been miscategorized by some local media outlets as a counter-protest to this Town Hall event.   We have had many successful interactions with March For Our Lives, and we were invited to their event specifically by them.  Accordingly, we have encouraged our community to attend this important discussion peacefully and to show our support for the common goal of keeping our children safe in schools.  We appreciate March For Our Lives inviting us to their public event and are happy to engage in all dialogue that will help us move towards that common goal.

March For Our Lives team – please contact us at [email protected] to coordinate as quickly as possible so we can assure your event’s location.  If our location doesn’t meet your needs, we hope your invitation for us to attend your event remains open to continue the productive dialogue that we have had with you around the country as was the case today in Kissimmee, Florida with the National Producer for The March For Our Lives.

Click here for directions via Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/BLN5exd8NUT2

DETAILS:  The March For our Lives group is back in SLC for a second event.  Please join UGE as we seek to work with all groups to find sensible solutions for the safety of our children and communities.   This is a spectacular stage to demonstrate our unity in support of common sense school safety improvement measures.

UGE will set up in the parking lot in front of the Megaplex Theaters at 4:30 PM. Please come out and show your support for keeping our children safe and protecting the Second Amendment! Pick up a free UGE T Shirt and a cold bottle of water.  Meet and speak with Sam Robinson, Co-Owner of UGE and other UGE Staff and like-minded community members. Then proceed to the Megaplex Theaters  to listen to the March For Our Lives panel discussion on Gun Reform.

When facing the front of the Theatre, go to the right of the Main Door Entrance and you will see another door labeled “Event Lobby”.  Please enter here and proceed to the second floor; the discussion will be held in the meeting room on this floor.

The March For Our Lives Panel Discussion begins @ 6:00 PM and ends at 7:30 PM.  The MFOL group has changed this to a ticketed event.  Tickets are still free but there is a limited number of seats.   Please click on the link for a ticket.     https://www.eventbrite.com/e/march-for-our-lives-town-hall-tickets-47978589252

If you are not able to get a ticket, we encourage you to come anyway!   It is likely that  the Press will be there and we need to have a strong showing of Second Amendment Supporters, even if you cannot get in to the discussion.   Some members of the UGE Staff will remain in the parking lot during the event to visit with community members; we invite you to come and mingle with us and speak with Sam!  Look for our UGE Canopy!  We will see you Saturday!

We are asking all attendees to please be respectful of the Megaplex space and conduct yourself appropriately should you choose to arrive early. There will be bag checks at the door, and firearms will not be allowed in to the venue. Reserved seating will be available in the front for high school students. (This is straight from MFOL information, NOT UGE).    Please wear a white shirt if you can (you can wear your free UGE Shirt!).  The MFOL group will be wearing mostly black/dark blue, red or orange…. Let’s stand out!

Sam Robinson & Bryan Melchior, co-owners of Utah Gun Exchange and UGETube.com encourage everyone to make this a priority event for your  weekend planning.   Let’s make sure the Nation knows that Utahans love and support our children and their safety, along with the Second Amendment,  and we  believe we can work together with all groups to find solutions!
