2A Sanctuary County ****Volunteer****Get Involved****
As the 2020 Utah Legislative season is winding down, we can now focus on the next phase of our plan. We now feel it is appropriate to ask you to turn your attention to helping make every county in Utah a 2A Sanctuary.
To all of our volunteers, we greatly appreciate your help in fighting the legislation that would have further infringed on our 2nd Amendment rights and in supporting the legislation that further enhances our 2nd Amendment rights.
UGE has been working behind the scenes to implement a grassroots movement in Utah to help counties become 2A Sanctuaries. We have been in contact with the VCDL (Virginia Citizen’s Defense League, the group that successfully helped citizens mobilize and turn counties 2A in Virginia)…. We can do this too! They have 90 counties; we only have 29 (and as of today, 6 are now 2A Sanctuary, with several more in the process).
We have done a ton of leg work; gathering and compiling information such as contact info for Commission and Sheriffs offices, calling & emailing them to get updates on current 2A activity, etc. We have set up a recommended step-by-step process for you to use as a guide in your county.
We have reached out to the UGE People’s Rapid Response Team and other volunteers to begin forming 2A volunteer groups in each county. We will be working to connect people by county. We will be here, behind the scenes, helping each coordinator and or group as needed and getting updated information to you, and from you. You will not have to do everything by yourself…. There will be help and support!
But now we need your help. We are all equal stakeholders in Utah! If we all do a little, we will all benefit a lot!
If you want to volunteer, please do the following:
- Email us back and let us know what county you want to help with and what county you live in.
- Let us know if you want to be a County Coordinator OR assistant (coordinator must have a Facebook page).
- Send us the URL link to your Facebook page; this will help us connect you with other group members in your county.
- Provide your phone number and email address.
- Request to join our Facebook Group, Utah Gun Exchange Community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/155430211839647/
- Go to the 2A Information page on Utah Gun Exchange: https://utahgunexchange.com/2a-sanctuary-movement/ to read the step by step process and check the status of your county.
This 2 A page on Utah Gun Exchange is our centralized information page. When you obtain new information on 2A county status in your area, you can post that information on the UGE Community Page. We will consolidate that info and update the 2A page with it.
So:
- Anytime you want to check on your county status, you will simply go to the 2A page on UGE: https://utahgunexchange.com/2a-sanctuary-movement/
- Anytime you have new information about 2A activity, Commission Meetings, etc. in your county, you will simply go to the UGE Community Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/155430211839647/ and post that information.
We appreciate your help! We are happy to be able to provide some of the tools for you to use; but YOU are ultimately the ones that will make this happen in your county.
Thank you for your commitment and your resolve to keep our Constitutional Rights in Utah.

****May 14, 2021 Updates*****
The 2021 General Legislative Season is now over. With the hard work and effort of many, H.B. 60, Permit-less Carry, was passed.
We are now moving into a Special Legislative Session and your help is needed to make sure a Bill to make Utah a 2A Sanctuary is placed on the agenda. Please review the information below and take action now.
****URGENT ACTION NEEDED****
WHAT: Utah Legislators have proposed a statute and resolution to make Utah a Second Amendment (2A) Sanctuary State; however, Governor Cox has not committed to put this on the agenda for the upcoming Special Session. Many states have already passed 2A Sanctuary Status or are in the process; Utah should be a leader in this movement!
ACTION NEEDED: Contact Governor Cox TODAY and ask him to put a 2A Sanctuary Bill on the Agenda for the Special Session. Help us flood the governor’s phone and email with these requests so that he gets a clear message from all of us!
HOW: Call AND Email Governor Cox:
phone: (801) 538-1000
email: [email protected]
Twitter: @SpencerJCox
We request that you are respectful and courteous in your messaging. We encourage you to use your own words, but you may also use the example below as a guide / template.
Subject Line: Please place a 2A Sanctuary Bill on the Special Session Agenda
Body: Dear Governor Cox:
I am respectfully requesting that you put a 2A Sanctuary Bill on the agenda for the upcoming Special Session. The 2A protects all other civil rights. As you may know, many counties in Utah have already become 2A Sanctuary Counties. The state of Utah must take a lead in this. Please place this bill on the agenda.
Respectfully,

As always, thank you for your help and support. Together we can make a difference!

***** UPDATE ON JULY 14 EVENT******UGE PRESS RELEASE*****
We wanted to let you know that the March For Our Lives Event has been canceled again. We are doing our best to keep you informed and up to date as these changes occur.
UGE Co-Owner, Sam Robinson, has just put out the Press Release below. Please read and please share this with our community! We need to get this information out. Thank you for your support! Please share.
PRESS RELEASE
July 11, 2018 for Immediate Release
With MegaPlex Cancellation, Utah Gun Exchange welcomes March For Our Lives / Road to Change, to Utah and to use its facilities
UtahGunExchange.com is concerned to hear that March For Our Lives SLC has had to cancel its event due to the loss of their venue. We respect the rights of private property owners, the Larry H. Miller Group, and MegaPlex Theatres to determine how their property is utilized. We also recognize the First Amendment rights that allow us to engage each other in civil dialogue.
We reaffirm our invitation to the March For Our Lives team to Utah. We have a facility that can accommodate the March For Our Lives event, and it’s ready to go. As it has been claimed that there are threats from “outside groups” of “escalation” – escalation which we do not condone – we are happy to add value to our original offer and pay for additional security to ensure safe and peaceful dialogue at our location. We want safe students. We want safe schools. We support everyone’s Constitutional right to peaceably assemble and we will do everything we can to ensure that March For Our Lives can assemble safely.
Furthermore – we have been miscategorized by some local media outlets as a counter-protest to this Town Hall event. We have had many successful interactions with March For Our Lives, and we were invited to their event specifically by them. Accordingly, we have encouraged our community to attend this important discussion peacefully and to show our support for the common goal of keeping our children safe in schools. We appreciate March For Our Lives inviting us to their public event and are happy to engage in all dialogue that will help us move towards that common goal.
March For Our Lives team – please contact us at [email protected] to coordinate as quickly as possible so we can assure your event’s location. If our location doesn’t meet your needs, we hope your invitation for us to attend your event remains open to continue the productive dialogue that we have had with you around the country as was the case today in Kissimmee, Florida with the National Producer for The March For Our Lives.

We will see you Saturday!
We are asking all attendees to please be respectful of the Megaplex space and conduct yourself appropriately should you choose to arrive early. There will be bag checks at the door, and firearms will not be allowed in to the venue. Reserved seating will be available in the front for high school students. (This is straight from MFOL information, NOT UGE). Please wear a white shirt if you can (you can wear your free UGE Shirt!). The MFOL group will be wearing mostly black/dark blue, red or orange…. Let’s stand out!
Sam Robinson & Bryan Melchior, co-owners of Utah Gun Exchange and UGETube.com encourage everyone to make this a priority event for your weekend planning. Let’s make sure the Nation knows that Utahans love and support our children and their safety, along with the Second Amendment, and we believe we can work together with all groups to find solutions!
