BNZ All Matching K98

Description

World War II German Kar98k bolt-action rifle in 8 x 57 caliber with matching serial #s 5450 on visible parts. The action is stamped “bnz 42” indicating 1942 by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG. Part of an Estate collection; I have no direct knowledge of the firearm but have done some research. The action is smooth, dry-fired a couple of times while cleaning.
The recoil pad led me to Llanerch Gun Shop, owned by Roy Oster, Upper Darby, Pa.
Oster specialized in restoring/sporterizing vintage rifles in the 1960s & 70s. All this fits the gun owner’s MO; lived south of Upper Darby, deer hunted regularly in Pa, liked to collect guns. I surmise that Oster modernized the M98 with the beautiful MonteCarlo wood stock, added the Lyman adjustable rear and front sight, re-blued the barrel, creating the sporterized M98 as you see it here.

Having all-matching factory serial numbers on a 1942 Steyr (bnz 42) Kar98k drastically elevates its historical value and collector demand.
