Smith & Wesson 638-2 Airweight .38 Special — Complete Carry Package with Ammo — $450 (negotiable)

S&W Model 638-2 Airweight, .38 Special, 5-shot J-frame with the shrouded hammer — snag-free from a pocket like a hammerless model, but you can still thumb-cock it for a precise single-action shot. This is the earlier 638-2 production, before S&W added the internal lock, which many revolver buyers specifically look for.

History: Purchased new by a family member and inherited by me, so I don’t have the original box or paperwork. It has been in the family since new and fired sparingly — I’ve almost never shot it myself. It functions perfectly, with a tight lockup and very little wear.

Condition: Excellent mechanically. Cosmetically there is some noticeable discoloration on the backstrap (common on Airweight aluminum frames, purely cosmetic); otherwise the finish shows very little wear. Rubber grips. Happy to send close-up photos of the backstrap so you can judge for yourself.
