This is a one of a kind, hand carved, mammoth ivory chess set. Every piece shows the most exquisite detail and is finished amazingly well. All pieces are in great shape with no chips or parts missing.

This set was evaluated years ago at over $12,000 and is considered to potentially be the only one like it.

The story of how this came to be is as follows:

There was a cargo ship captain that was good friends with an oil-wealthy chique from the Middle East. They debated on who was the veteran chess player and decided to settle the argument with a game with the condition being this: whoever wins the game gets to keep the chess set. The set belonged to the chique, but he figured he would not lose. He was wrong, and his friend the ship captain took the set after winning the game.

About 25 years later, the retired captain sold it to a Vietnam veteran at a gunshow in Arizona and he subsequently sold it to me 30 years after that. Here I am offering it for sale or for trade. The board is included, though it does not really hold any value. It was handmade by the Vietnam veteran.
