Description
FN Herstal Model 1949 (FN-49) .30-06 Springfield
Belgian-manufactured Fabrique Nationale Model 1949 (FN-49) semi-automatic military rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The rifle was manufactured by Fabrique Nationale d’Armes de Guerre at Herstal, Belgium, and retains multiple identifiable Belgian factory and proof-house markings.
The receiver bears the FN factory identification:
“FABRIQUE NATIONALE D’ARMES DE GUERRE – HERSTAL, BELGIQUE”
Photographed markings also include Belgian Liège proof-house stamps, including the characteristic Perron proof and a star-over-letter inspector/controller mark. These markings are consistent with Belgian manufacture and formal proof inspection rather than later commercial reproduction markings.
