ANTIQUE SHINTO KATANA / FULLY RESTORED / ca. 1700’s

I used to live in Tooele, I have dealt with many ppl on UGE for over a decade, since its beginning. I now live in Prescott, AZ.

For sale: an extremely rare find, and fully restored antique and functional Katana with antique fixtures, dated 1700’s. Handmade gendaito in traditional style. It is signed Kanehide with no apparent flaws before restoration. Nagasa (cutting edge) is 24 7/8”.

This rather slender and elegantly shaped sword should be submitted to a shinsa at NBTHK someday. It has good work in the hamon with many hataraki and the hada is well forged. This sword also has a very pleasant shape and feel to it. It looks almost like a very early koto era sword and more than likely was made in that style. It was originally purchased from Nihonto Antiques. 

They, Nihonto Antiques, also sold me all of the antique fixtures and conducted all of the restoration at a cost of 3,100.00. I have all of the information regarding this sword and Moses from Nihonto can corroborate.

This Katana is not papered, but could be. It will just need to be submitted to the NBTHK and verified.
