Description
The Springfield M1903 Match Rifle is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. It features a 24-inch barrel and a standard internal magazine capacity of five rounds.
Metal components exhibit the characteristic finish typical of Springfield production from the period, with the receiver, barrel, and bolt assembly in good shape. The rifle is used, showing handling and wear consistent with age and prior use. The walnut stock retains its full-length contour and carries the correct DAL (David A Lyle) stamp with inletting designed for the M1903 action and barrel channel for the custom J.R. BUHMILLER barrel which appears to be of the 6 groove variety to my aging eyes. The very rare matching sight protectors are PJ O’Hare (US) .. Serial number falls right in the middle of 1923.. No doubt a very accurate rifle proven by the results of the 1937 Matches at Camp Perry where Mr. Van Walterman is listed as a Bronze medal winner! I have the NRA Magazine reprint which will go with the rifle. BOLT AND STOCK are serialized to the action..Also looks to be drilled for Unertl mounts.Archival Research Gr Parial trade poss..
