Browning A5 Belgium made

Description

I don’t know a lot but this gun. I inherited it from my dad. This is from ChatGPT.

That confirms an important part: the barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS MO. & MONTREAL P.Q.” and “MADE IN BELGIUM.” So this is an FN-made Belgian Browning Auto-5, not a later Japanese gun.

Looking again at your serial-number photo, I believe the top line is actually 70G, not “706.” If so, the complete serial is 70G 33384. Browning’s own serialization information says G = Light Weight 12 gauge, and the two digits indicate the year. That makes yours a 1970 Belgian Browning Auto-5 Light Twelve, serial 33384.
