The BMF Activator (also called BMF Trigger Activator or crank fire device) is an aftermarket accessory designed primarily for the Ruger 10/22 and other semi-automatic .22LR rimfire rifles. It clamps onto the trigger guard and uses a hand-crank mechanism to rapidly actuate the trigger, simulating a high rate of fire (Gatling-gun style) while keeping the rifle fully semi-automatic — one trigger pull per round.

Functionality

• How it works: The device attaches to the trigger guard with set screws (using nylon screws to avoid marring the finish). It includes interchangeable activator bars (short, medium, or long) to match your trigger’s travel distance. Turning the ambidextrous crank handle mechanically presses the trigger multiple times per rotation — typically about four shots per full crank. This allows you to achieve the rifle’s maximum cyclic rate (often cited around 750+ rounds per minute on a well-functioning 10/22), far faster than finger-triggering alone.
• Installation: Takes under a minute. Clear the rifle first, select the right bar length, position the body, tighten screws, and test dry-fire for smooth crank action with proper trigger reset.
• Compatibility: Best on Ruger 10/22 (and Charger pistols). It fits ~95% of semi-auto .22LR rifles with sufficient trigger guard space. Manufacturers explicitly warn against use on centerfire rifles, shotguns, or anything with significant recoil, as it can lead to loss of control.
• Performance: Excels at rapid plinking. Can empty a 25-30 round magazine in 3-4 seconds. It’s limited by the gun’s reliability, magazine capacity/feed speed, and ammo quality (e.g., occasional jams if cranking faster than the bolt can cycle). It works on factory or modified 10/22s but shines with good magazines and a reliable setup.

It’s legal at the federal level in the US (as a manually operated device, not a machine gun conversion, similar to historical Gatling guns). However, some states and localities ban possession of BMF Activator. Because some States ban this device, I will only sell in person to someone with a Government Issued Utah Identification.

I’m simply trying to clean out some things that I’ve had for a long time that I’m not using. Open to trades for factory ammunition of approximate value if you prefer going that route instead of paying $65 cash.
